Hospitality, which began thirty years ago after the restoration of the farmhouse known as Podere Marone, reflects the attitudes, history, culture, and love for country life of the owning family. The offer was conceived in the spirit of the Italian agritourism law, which, in order to economically support farms, encouraged the adaptation of abandoned rural homes to host visitors and tourists and to promote awareness of the landscapes, people, and traditional activities that make the Italian countryside so unique and diverse.
In this spirit, the farm’s buildings have been repaired and made comfortably habitable while fully preserving their rural character, not transforming them into villas or hotel structures. The buildings have been reinforced in full respect of their original architectural features, according to conservation restoration concepts for historical buildings. Damaged or missing brick floors have been replaced with ones still produced today using local clay from the nearby kilns of Castel Viscardo, thus identical to the ancient ones. The same principle was followed in replacing the wooden roof structures.
By managing the property in the original spirit of agritourism, stays of at least one week are encouraged to give guests the opportunity to experience the environment in its various aspects. Thirty years of experience have fully confirmed the value of these choices.
Families with children or teenagers of various ages have appreciated the possibility of alternating visits to the surroundings and to the many places of interest in the area with complete relaxation—spending hours and full days in the garden and by the pool, enjoying the characteristic climate of the hills, the tranquility, and the silence of the countryside, close to a town with all services. Guests have always greatly enjoyed their stay, often returning in subsequent years.
The maintenance of the facilities and installations and the care of the gardens and pools are always ensured by the farm staff, who, when necessary, intervene in the early hours of the day to avoid disturbing guests. Communication with agencies and guests is handled by a professional, Margherita Lavecchia, who is always available for general information and to propose or organize special services, while the point of sale manager, Tiziana Napodano, welcomes and accompanies guests on arrival and shows them how to use the domestic facilities and equipment.
